NEW TRAVEL LIFT AT PALUMBO MALTA SUPERYACHTS

Palumbo Malta Superyachts, thanks to its extended berthing areas (340mt), 2 covered docks (160mt and 140mt) and a 700-ton floating dock, is already a renowned destination for superyachts in the Mediterranean. Now, the yard is proud to announce the completion and testing of a 420-ton travel lift equipped with 16 wheels and 8 groups of lifting belts to ensures mid-size yachts to be rapidly moved.

Thanks to this further facility, Palumbo Malta Superyachts has turned into a true “mecca for luxury yachts”, providing high level of expertise in the biggest facilities of the Mediterranean, together with a vast array of services for captains and crew, like: a yacht chandler, a gym, a wellness center, outdoor and indoor recreational areas, a food court for light meals and also the option of luxury accommodation.

MONDOMARINE MECHANICAL WORKSHOP

Since acquired by Palumbo Superyachts, Mondomarine, which for decades had been a maintenance and repair hub for both steel/aluminium motor and sailing yachts, has further increased its abilities so to meet Palumbo Superyachts’ exacting standards applied to any kind of refit and repair services, including detailed full custom metal works. The yard’s in-house mechanical workshop, spanning just over 200 square metres, is operated by an experienced and highly-skilled team and it is fully equipped with machinery tools including: lathes, milling machines, drill presses, radial drilling machines, metal cutting band saws, waterjet cutting machine, boring machine, cutting machines, sheet metal bending machines.

Among the shipyard’s core competencies we also find custom steel and aluminium welding performed only by certified qualified welders for each type of welding process. Each welding job is strictly prepared and controlled and when performed on structural frames or sensitive equipment, the entire welding process is type approved. The ample dedicated welding shop, conveniently located, includes: TIG welding machines, bench grinders, bench metal polishing machines.

LAUNCH OF THE NEW SYNCROLIFT AT PALUMBO SUPERYACHTS ANCONA

In addition to its main facilities, the Palumbo Superyachts Ancona shipyard can now provide also an advanced syncrolift service thanks to the installation of its new "Ship Lift Platform 3300", capable of handling mega yachts up to 3300 tons and 110 metres in length.
Technically, the whole system consists of an 81m long and 19m wide steel platform, supported by 14 large winches allowing to lift/ launch mega yachts with a maximum draft of 6 metres.

The new syncrolift, which required an investment of around 6 million euros, will be used for the construction as well as the refit of large vessels.
Palumbo Superyachts Ancona strengthens its identity as the major shipbuilding reference in the Adriatic and, spreading over a 50,000 square metre area with 10 piers and a 560-ton travel lift, it can accommodate ships up to 100 metres in length as well as providing crew offices and ship chandlers. The syncrolift was inaugurated on the occasion of the launch of the Columbus 80m "Dragon".
