MY KOLAHA – 10-YEAR SERVICE

In the life of any yacht, there are times when it has to come out of the water for a full check-up.
This is the case for the 63.5m M/Y KOLAHA . The vessel, with a sophisticated exterior by Naval Architect Andrea Vallicelli, features a displacement steel hull and aluminium superstructure, with teak decks. Fitted with 'zero speed stabilizers', she is powered by 2 Caterpillar 2,364hp diesel engines and propelled by twin screw propellers so to reach a top speed of 16 knots, and comfortably cruise at 14 knots. With her 130,000 litre fuel tanks she performs a maximum range of 3,109 nautical miles at 14 knots, whereas her water tanks can store around 35,000 litres of fresh water.
Delivered in 2010 by ISA, she is now due for her 10-year class survey and the fairly complex business has been assigned to Palumbo Superyachts Marseille due to the yard’s excellent facilities, including a new 500 tonne floating dry dock, combined with its engineering team’s ability of solving most problems in-house and thus accelerating the work rate dramatically when the pressure is on.
The associated work involves...

M/Y WHISPERING ANGEL - TECHNICAL JOBS AND GENERAL MAKEOVERS

After extensive charter cruising to unbeatable Mediterranean destinations like Portofino, Sardinia, Amalfi, Cote d’Azur to explore their clear and cool blue waters ideal for swimming and snorkeling and indulge in their famous cuisine, WHISPERING ANGEL has called at Palumbo Superyachts Ancona for a comprehensive refit involving the following technical jobs and general makeovers:

  • running the periodic maintenance procedures required by manufacturer specifications for the main engines and generators – an activity that, if professionally performed, keeps the equipment running efficiently, maximizing reliability and minimizing costs;
  • general engine room cleaning and system renewing – this apparently trivial task involves pumping bilge fluids out, performing a visual inspection for any weeping joints, oil or hydraulic fluid spills, corrosion or cracks, missing or loose nuts, bolts or screws. When performed by tradespeople, this task prevents future troubles also of environmental nature;

M/Y COMMITMENT  - FROM 37 metres TO 45 metres

Palumbo Superyachts Naples is working on the extensive refit of the 45-metre motor yacht Number Nine, previously named Commitment.
The project is due to be completed in May 2020 and aims to create a more modern vessel, whilst still taking her original De Vries Lentsch naval architecture and exterior design into consideration.
Number Nine was originally built by the Italian yard Carp Navi in 1989 with a length of 37 metres and featured interior designs by the London design studio Bannenberg & Rowell.
Since entering Palumbo Superyachts’ Naples facility back in July 2019, Number Nine has had her stern enhanced by an additional eight metres, bringing her to the current length of 45 metres.
