After months of intense activity to undertake the important technical processes associated with excavating the seabed, building the underwater containment walls and, not least, transferring the platform on its supporting columns and fixing it on its stands, we are pleased to announce that the new superyacht lifting platform is now operating at the Palumbo Superyachts’ Ancona shipyard.
Thus, in addition to its main facilities, the shipyard can now provide also a superyacht lifting service thanks to the installation of its new “Ship Lift Platform 3300”, capable of handling mega yachts up to 3300 tons and 110 metres in length.
Technically, the whole system consists of an 81m long and 19m wide steel platform, supported by 14 large winches allowing to lift/ launch mega yachts with a maximum draft of 6 metres.
The new superyacht lifting platform, which required an investment of around 6 million euros, will be used for the construction as well as the refit of large vessels.
Palumbo Superyachts Ancona strengthens its identity as the major shipbuilding reference in the Adriatic and, spreading over a 50,000 square metre area with 10 piers and a 560-ton travel lift, it can accommodate yachts up to 110 metres in length as well as providing crew offices and ship chandlers. The superyacht lifting platform will be inaugurated on the occasion of the launch of the Columbus 80m “Dragon”, scheduled for mid-March 2019.
Palumbo Superyachts Refit is pleased to announce that the first superyacht has arrived in Savona shipyard to undergo refit and maintenance works just a few days after the entry of Palumbo Superyachts into Mondomarine.
On January 11th, 2018 indeed the yacht of 55 meters was hauled, as shown in the pictures.
Stepping into Mondomarine represents a new important phase for Palumbo after the recent acquisition of ISA Yachts brand in Ancona shipyard. The strategic plan that concerns the development of the network of shipyards in the Mediterranean interests both the new build and refit sectors.
Palumbo Superyachts keeps on growing basing on 50 years of experience in the ship refit sector and on a fundamental financial solidity. The division brands are Columbus Yachts, ISA Yachts and Palumbo Superyachts Refit respectively dedicated to the construction of custom, semi-custom yachts and activities of refit and after sales.
After so many major investments on all infrastructures of the shipyard acquired in 2016, Palumbo Superyachts Ancona is now focusing on the realization of new structures and works that give the possibility to create a new lifting system and welcome mega yachts with weights up to a limit of 3300 tons.
Generally, this new system is called superyacht lifting platform, in particular “Ship Lift Platform 3300”.
Technically, the entire structure consists of a steel platform of 81 meters and a width of more than 19 meters, supported by 14 large winches that allow the lifting or launching of mega yachts, with a draft up to 6 meters from sea level.
The completion of the works and the full operation of the superyacht lifting platform will be scheduled for the end of January 2019.
With its potential, this infrastructure becomes essential for yachts now under construction and in advanced construction.
New superyacht lifting platform will be in addition to the continuous major refitting works required by large tonnage yachts that currently do not have a yard reference able to offer such operations throughout the Adriatic coast and beyond.
Here you find some shots of reinforced concrete structures that have been realized to make them operational with the new superyacht lifting platform.
The images are linked to the first crossbar of the new platform that will be followed by other 30 exceptional transports for more components that will be coupled and processed in the Ancona shipyard with a subsequent installation on the shipyard docks, dredging and the construction of underwater bulkheads to contain them.
This new structure will be used to expand refit works and to perform launching of new yachts up to 110 meters.
“Mondomarine” shipyard of Savona has finally been acquired by Palumbo Superyachts, the yachting division of Palumbo Group.
The Port Authority of Savona approved the concession to Palumbo of the 20 years state concession of the renowned Italian shipyard.
Its short distance from the principality of Monaco makes Mondomarine shipyard a valid point of reference for the yachting sector.
The business horizons of Palumbo Superyachts further expand thanks to this acquisition that increases again the network already consistent of Palumbo Group shipyards in the Mediterranean and East Atlantic (Ancona, Naples, 2 in Messina, Malta, Marseille, Tenerife and recently Rijeka in Croatia, besides the representative office in Monaco).

The Palumbo Malta Superyachts, which is one of the 5 refit shipyards that represent the largest maintenance and repair network of superyachts in the Mediterranean, in addition to these infrastructures, it can now boast the completion and the testing of a travel lift by 410 tons.
